I heard an ad on the radio this morning advertising the Subaru Outback as an SUV and I had to laugh. C’mon, people… everyone knows that this car is nothing more than a de-woodified station wagons with a phony Australian accent. I thought those things went out of style a LONG time ago, but I guess I was wrong.
Check out the side-by-side:

Check out this bad boy:

If only I had one of these in college, I would’ve hooked up with ALL the ladies. Come to think of it, one of my college roommates DID have an old beat up Volvo station wagon that he affectionately named Velma. That thing was always full of women. I don’t know how he did it, but I think he stumbled on another previously-untapped source of mojo. Yet somehow I’m glad I discovered this after I got married… (Shirin doesn’t strike me as a wagon type.)
(A note to Shirin: please shoot me if I am EVER serious about getting one of these.)

Like Shingo, Amelia and Shiori, I’ve been tracking visits to this blog using Google Analytics. Of course, I don’t update my blog nearly as often as Shingo does, nor do I have a really cute daughter, but it’s still pretty interesting to see.
A while back, Shirin and I went to a restaurant and we had such a great time I HAD to write a review of our experience. Well, that page seems to be the most popular, at least in terms of random people hitting the site.
And then there’s the map:

I expected Israel, the US and some parts of Europe to be on there–even the occasional Australian visitor. But the huge pimple over the UK is kind of unusual. Perhaps I should follow my brother’s lead and register www.nafis.co.uk??

So there I was, somewhere off of I-85 north of Atlanta, sitting under the shade of a tree, car idling in park. I had my laptop out and was frantically trying to find a wireless connection when the realization hit me–what the hell am I doing here? Only six hours earlier, I was lying comfortably in bed in Virginia. Somehow I had managed to get on a plane that was an hour late and arrive here in Georgia–533 nautical miles away according to the mileage program. The airline managed to lose my luggage which happened to contain the address to the hotel where I was supposed to check-in before showing up for the first day on my new project. So there I was, somewhere off of I-85, under a tree, air conditioner at full blast, hoping and praying that the not-so-wise person whose wireless access point was named “home” hadn’t put a password on the connection.
Needless to say, here I am in the office… we haven’t permanently moved down here but this was the hectic start to what promises to be an interesting new chapter in our lives. As I always say: stay tuned for more.
